Les Murray (SBS) RIP
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-07-31/les-murray-australias-voice-of-football-dies-aged-71/8759810

Been the voice and face of “Soccer” (football means Rugby here!) for as long as I can remember in Australia, along with Johnny Warren they were about the only people talking and covering the game on TV until about 10 years ago.

Sadly Les has joined Johnny in the commentary box in the sky.

RIP Les.

He was Australia's version of Des Lynam. Loved the sport and covered it exceedingly well on tv.

I agree with Syd and Sven, Les will be sadly missed. Definitely the voice of "fooouutbaaall" in Australia.

RIP Les

Re: Les Murray (SBS) RIP
He and his parents came to Australia as political refugees from Hungary in the 1950's and NOONE did more to promote and cover football in Australia.
Often in the face of hostility and antagonism from the local football codes.

RIP Les Murray

Les Murray. A great man and a tremendous force in Australian football.

Sydney, he always called the game football, he will be sorely missed
